To ALL Moms on the 1st Day of School

This week as I look at all the “back to school” pictures on social media, I also see the stories behind the loved ones sending them.

At first glance, I see happy families, with freshly pressed kids, new lunch boxes, and high optimism.

But also…

I see the heartache of mothers making a brave, balanced choice to send their kids to school so they can give more time to a good work.

I see disappointed mothers who wanted to continue homeschooling but no longer can because of divorce.

I see diligent mothers homeschooling but their heart isn’t in it. Being this responsible brings out all of their insecurities.

I see mothers in foreign countries, without much community, whose children bravely go to school taught in another language.

I see mothers who are bringing home newborn/s on the first week of school. (God bless them!!!)

I see brave mothers sending their kids to a new school in a new town.

I see mothers who can no longer afford the private school choice and hoping their child can understand.

I see mothers who feel a bit lost this week because their youngest child skipped off to kindergarten.

I see mothers working so hard that none of these school options was even up for discussion….

What can you do to make a difference in your child’s day, no matter where they are?

  1. Loved every word of this. As a momma who desires to homeschool, but can’t right now due to family circumstances, I can relate to many of “these moms” and the wisdom you shared about the practical ways we can be proactive is great!!
